OF THE VOID
In the optical illusion, the game, the make-believe, the architecture reveals its identity within the open space (by the rotation of parts of the building: windows, cornice, base, stringcourse, etc.), considered as a natural landscape or as a city. Suddenly, a window appears out of the total, multiplied void, followed by a stringcourse, and then a cornice, until the complete building appears and from an invisible element transforms into matter, into an image. When the building appears completely on the outside, the internal space, also considered as a complete void, immediately produces an optical illusion, a game, make-believe. An organic, physical volume placed in a corner of the internal space, represents not only a sheltered, domestic place, but also a place from which architecture can be brought to life via the computer. The project consists of a pure and simple, essential, geometric volume, a double-face volume, which contains a system of reflecting panels (some of which support the solar-fireplace wall) on the one hand, whereas there are opaque walls on the other.
These panels feature a series of elements, which rotate around pins (also considered as support pillars for the house) and create extreme spatial conditions. The house is self-sufficient with a series of double-face panels acting as solar-fireplace walls. The panel’s reflecting side captures the sunlight and by rotating sends it inside and transforms it into electricity and heat.
